The Opportunity
JustGiving had multiple competing priorities and initiatives, all drawing on limited resource and investment. The business needed a clear view of what could be done with its data asset, how to prioritise opportunities, and how to turn insight into practical services that improved giving and strengthened long-term engagement.

Beyond delivered a rapid data strategy sprint—aligning stakeholders, defining priorities, and building a benefits case and roadmap that translated data potential into a practical plan for action.
Assessed how data could enable better and more targeted services for the JustGiving community and charities, grounded in behavioural insight from the platform
Ran a 2-month sprint programme including interviews and workshops with 20+ stakeholders across charities, givers and JustGiving teams
Defined clear strategic objectives for the data strategy focused on stimulating generosity, creating competitive advantage and supporting long-term sustainability
Produced a board-level set of 14 bespoke recommendations to focus effort on the highest-impact initiatives
Built a quantified benefits case and prioritised roadmap, including expected costs and benefits over time
Identified early initiatives suitable for rapid trialling, supporting test-and-learn delivery and measurable progress
Results & Impact
The strategy created robust foundations for decision-making and prioritisation. It identified £60m worth of possible incremental donations from only £1m investment, and was used to set JustGiving’s 2012 plan of activity, including multiple recommendations trialled within the first quarter.
Lesson Learned
A strong data strategy is not a catalogue of analytics ideas, it is a prioritised plan that links data to real-world outcomes. When organisations combine stakeholder alignment, clear objectives and quantified value, they can move quickly from insight to action.
