
Situation
As part of their digital transformation this retailer was looking to improve access and availability of data across the business and its partner agencies. This was seen as a key enabler to driving innovation and progress in the transformation.
What We Did
Beyond Analysis had already developed a data lake for this client so was familiar with the data. A key first step for this engagement was the understanding of the end user community and their requirements. This was carried out by our UI/UX teams design led thinking model using wire-frames, mouse tracking and interviews. An online data dictionary was developed that, supported by a virtual assistant, presented all the available data sets, variables and their definitions and the use cases.
Outcome
The data dictionary is now a key entry point for any data related project within the business. It is widely used internally and by the agencies alike. A major benefit has been seen in time taken to source and access data for projects.
